Artist Biography

  • I was born and raised in St.Louis, Missouri. 

  • 1992- Graduated from Metro High School of the St.Louis Public Schools.

  • 1992-1993 I went to Macalester College in St.Paul, Minnesota where I studied       Anthropology, Art and Womens Studies.

  • 1994-1997 I moved back to St.Louis, where I attended Webster University and studied art.    I first majored in Ceramics but soon changed to Painting.  

  • 1996 I attended Webster's art program in Vienna, Austria for 8 weeks and then travelled throughout Europe for several more weeks.

  • 1996 I was also awarded the Deans List honors 

  • 1997 I graduated from Webster University with a B.F.A. in painting.  

  • Following graduation, I worked at several jobs to build up my resume: 

   Gallery Assistant at the Atrium Gallery

   Cashier at ArtMart

   Taught summer camps at Lewis and Clark Summer Institute, Taproots, and

       COCA

   In charge of the Art and Architecture sections at Borders in Clayton, MO

   Server at Riddles Penultimate in the University City Loop.

   Gallery Assistant/ cashier at Craft Alliance

   Taught art once a week to students at Gundlach Elementary School through

      the Springboard to Learning program. 

  • During this time, I also took many classes at Forest Park Community     College  toward fulfilling Missouri Teaching Certificate requirements. 

  • 1999 I was hired to my first full-time art teacher job at Transfiguration Catholic School in Florissant, MO!  There, I taught art to preK through 8th graders for two years.  In my second year, I taught science to  the 6th through 8th graders as well.

  • 2001 I was hired to teach art at St.Marys High School where I taught art for 4 

  •    years.

  • 2003 I had my own art show at Fort Gondo Gallery in south St.Louis.

  • 2004 I graduated from Webster University with an M.A.T. and also was awarded

  •     my Missouri Education Certificate in K-12 Art Education.

  • 2005 I taught Oral Communications at Meramec Community College.  

  •      During this time I also became a foster mother and helped to raise a     beautiful little boy for the first four years of his life!

  • 2006 I was hired to teach in the St.Louis Public Schools.  My first position was at Mallinckrodt Elementary School where I taught art to PreK through 5 graders until I was moved due to a reduction in force of all the art teachers. 

  • 2009  I gave birth to my twins!  They continue to be the best things I ever created!   I am so glad they came because not really related to that, my foster son was permanently placed with his biological parents. 

  •  Because I was moved in the St.Louis Public Schools, I worked one year at an  alternative school - Alternative South.  It was not a happy or productiveexperience although I did meet a few diamonds in the rough that year-  students and teachers. 

  • 2010  I moved to Long Middle School and taught 6th through 8th graders for 3

  •     years. This school was one of the most diverse places I have ever worked which I absolutely loved!

  • 2012 I got married to the smart and handsome, Benjamin Morayta!

  • 2013 The St. Louis Public Schools moved me to Meramec Elementary School.  

  •    There I taught art to students in grades preK through 5th.  

  • 2015 I left the St.Louis Public Schools to work with toddlers in the Reggio 

  •    Program at The St.Michael School of Clayton.  

  • 2017 I rejoined the St.Louis Public Schools to teach art at Carnahan High School.

  • 2017 Present  As my children have grown older and more independent, I have 

  •    made it a goal to get back to creating and showing my own artwork again. 

  • 2020 Before the Covid 19 pandemic hit, I had my first solo show in many years at the Webster Groves Public Library.  

  • Currently:  I continue to work to improve my art and expand my art business.
